An Electrostatic Precipitator is an extremely energy efficient abatement solution for oily smoke fumes using only 30 watts/1000m3/hour, compared to an incinerator at 3KW/1000m3/hr.
The oily smoke fumes came from textile Stenters operating at 150 degrees, ESP’s have an operating temperature of 40/50 degrees and hence the opportunity for heat recovery occurred.
The hot water generated was used in the dye house thus reducing the boiler house steam load and giving an excellent return on investment.
