Case Study: BNFL Springfields

An economiser fitted into the exhaust of a Waste Heat Boiler on a gas turbine power generator.

The unit was fitted with an integral flue gas by-pass and preheated boiler feed water in within 10 degrees of saturation temperature at 20 bar.

The by-pass was used to automatically regulate the flow of gases through the economiser and so control the water temperature at all combinations of power/heat.
