Activated Carbon Technology from Therm Tech

Activated carbon can absorb up to 25% of its own weight of VOC from air or water streams and in its impregnated form it can remove heavy metals like mercury and obnoxious odours associated with Hydrogen Sulphide and Mercaptans.   It can remove long chain compounds like Siloxanes from Land Fill or Biogas whilst small molecules of Methane and hydrogen will pass straight through, thereby effectively cleaning the gas of those contaminants which can cause wear and corrosion in engines.

Once adsorbed in the carbon the contaminants are “fixed” and can be safely disposed of with the carbon.

We manufacture a range of vessels and systems for a wide range of liquid or gaseous flows rates in either fixed or transportable situations. The vessels are optimised to provide a good carbon adsorption capacity, a long life between changes, minimal energy use in terms of gas pressure drop and with a retention time suitable for the particular contaminant.

Systems have been developed for on/off or sequential operation in multi vessel configurations and for ease of carbon removal or replacement. We can supply all necessary ductwork, fans, dampers and automatic control systems.
